At the link below:

ClayOgre opened up the idea of making a collaborative gimptalk video. He had thrown out the idea of attempting a cut-out animation type of sequence. This link:

http://www.aifweb.co..._animation.html

was provided as one example of cutout animation. In an email exchange with ClayOgre, I discussed how that particular animation could be done similarly in GAP. After working out details, I came up with this animation done completely in Gimp and GAP:

Adding a head to the body would not be difficult. My objective here was making something similar to the Flash animation in the link above.

I want to thank ClayOgre, whose discussion with me inspired me to try this out with GAP. Also, I want to thank Alan from Alan's Image Factory:

For permission to post this derivative work based on his walk cycle animation and character from that animation.

Thank you for checking this out. :)

Yes, that does look very good. Great use of texture on the wall. Just for the heck of it...wonder how it would look if you animated the background as well...?

Just adding a little note here about having updated the above. I was unsure if my animation was a derivative work, so decided to contact the site author to clear any copyright issues. He did make the walk cycle tutorial and character seen here:

http://www.aifweb.co..._animation.html

He kindly provided permission to post a derivative work and for that I am grateful. I have added an appropriate acknowledgement to the author above. Thank you all. :h:
