Animated mechanical iris

I did something like this purely in Gimp sometime back and made a tute. I thought I would attempt to make one in Blender. It is both easier and harder. Easier because there wasn't all this rotation and combining of layers, harder, because I had to worry about the third dimension. I was gonna post the .blend file, but deviantart is being persnickety and won't accept the .zip file. Maybe later.

The Blender version looks good. What did you use there, an environment map image for the reflection? Or? Just curious. Thanks. :h:

is not a gallery but i suppose http://www.box.net will accept .blend files (for sure it will accept if zipped)

It was "canned" with the material. I got the material from

http://www.freewebs.com/blendermats/. It's in the Precious Metals group, PM003, I think it is called.
