Here is mine. I took the render from a pic I took on a dive trip to Mexico.

Nice work. Especially on isolating that render from your photo. It looks good. :)

stuck on this part: Duplicate your render layer, copy your render then paste it 2-3 times. Make sure that the copies are close to the area where render original was (in the other layer).

Go to Filters->Distorts->Ripple.

Put in settings similar to this:

for some reason i cant paste my image i copy it and yes the image appears, but the color balance screen appears.

What I do is every time I paste anything is I make a transparent layer first then paste the image and then anchor it to the transparent layer.

Set this layer to dodge, make a new transparent layer and select an abtract brush (I used Tim's Abstract). Use one white brush, then put one black one overtop, set it to overlay and duplicate it. Make sure these layers are on top of the render.

It should look something like this:

i dont get this ^ i do it and for some reason my image never appears its like invisible

done this part already
Now, still on the same layer go to Layers->Colors->Desaturate. When done your image should look like this:

Quite a mess. :P

Now for the fun part...trimming the edges.

Select the Lasso tool, and under feathering set this at around 25-30. Circle around all areas on this layer in which the lines detract from the image, and cut.

If any areas are too dark, cut out pieces from those 2 brushed layers, but make sure you cut on both layers in the same place.

For example we want the lighting effect on the body, but not neccesarily in the main signature or in the eyes.

After the "clean-up" your sig should look something like this:

okay have two problems to this lool one is my mario my render in this sig was red when i started with it, now it blue, now i want to know what lasso tool and how to use it is it the rope tool, i did that and from then on how do i cut, i went to edit then cut and nothing happened.

I'm not sure why your render changed colour. Sorry for not getting to this earlier. The lasso tool is the rope tool. Was the selection on the right layer? If you made a selection on a transparent layer with nothing on it and cut it wouldn't move anything.

Okay I am going to attempt to be very clear, well here it goes. I got the part of pasting the render 2-3 times, I also got the two renders to desaturate like you said. I even get to the part that it says to set the layer to dodge, and make a new transparent layer.

What I do not get is the select the abstract brush part, that says use one white brush and a black one. then your tutorial says to overlay it and duplicate. Where do I apply the brush? and also aren't all the layers transparent? other than the background ones. I ask this because perhaps that is why I cant cut it.

Also about the lasso cutting part I tried cutting and nothing happens, the only thing that happens is that my render turns blue.

I would not ask so many questions, but I have literally spent numerous hours by myself adjusting things and trying to figure it out on my own , and just cant seem to move on in your tutorial.

Thanks, Koopa hope u answer ahaha lol

Just use it on top of the transparent layer. Even though its counter-intuitive you can draw on a transparent layer. All you'll want is to draw over your render, then set it to overlay + duplicate.

For the lasso cutting you need to be on the layer that contains the duplicated dodge setting characters, and cut out the parts that obscure the render.

The blue colour is probably a result of cutting out the wrong layer.

I hope these help. :P

Nice one! Aside from a bit of white pixels on the outside of Mario (which can be corrected by recutting out the render after raising the threshold) it looks great. :)

hey koopa I want to try footy sigs and music artists sigs what do u suggest I do? should I use your sort of base of making sigs or look at other tutorials? Because when i was looking for other tutorials they looked very complex, and not only that I dont know if it would look good on a football player, and plus when I plan to make a football player sig, I want to add stadiums in the background or certain lines of lighting on a player.

Should i look at the other tutorials and take what i can from there? or should i just look at another site, though I really like this one and I also like your backgrounds and texture that u have in your sigs tutorials. I have seen some other ones and they are not that modern or how can I say they dont bring out that nice flash of style. Well at least IMO,

each person has their own style, but I like that flashy look an examples is in your enguarde tut and full sig one.

I'm probably the last person to ask for realistic signatures. I really haven't made enough to offer any particular advice.

However from what I've seen from others you'll probably want to take a look at tutorials which focus on selective colouring, lighting and blending of renders. I would just do a whole bunch of tutorials and whenever you learn something new, try applying it to your current project. Experiment and have fun. Without me screwing around, none of these tutorials of mine would have been made.

There may be other sites which have more tutorials, but I think this is currently the largest organized listing on the net.

Sorry that I can't be more help.

I like to make music artist graphics, and what I do is follow tutorials to learn stuff, then adapt them to what I think would work for my project. Often the tutorial itself gives inspiration to come up with an interesting effect.
