I'm stuck at the part where you need to create the rim. After creating the guidelines, I don't know how to select the bottom cover.

Now, grab your ellipse selection to and drag an ellipse from the upper left hand cornerof the guide intersection to the lower right handcorner of the guide intersection. I have designated these locations with a red and yellow dot, respectively. The dots will not be on your screen. If you performed this step properly, you should have a selection that matches the upper edges of the Bottom Cover.

That is where I'm stuck.

You're not actually "selecting" the bottom cover. You're just creating a selection that has the same "limits" or "borders", if you will, of the bottom cover. That's the purpose of the guidelines.

So, just create the selection and make sure you've "Snap to Guides" on.

Does that make any sense? Let me know if it doesn't.

Yes it makes sense, but I don't really know how to make the selection. I do have Snap to Guides on.

Wow, I was blind! I know how now, but here's what I got:

Unfortunately, I had to transfer the image to .gif format, and it didn't turn out well. Photobucket doesn't accept .xcf files.

Nice job, Nate! I like the shamrock. Any particular reason you put that in there or was it just a whim?

Yeah, sort of. I was trying to whip together a CD cover for my friend's band and had that lyingaround and I thought it added a punch of color so I through it in. The reflection is a bit pixalated but I couldn't really help that, it had to do with the selection.
