I only have one done so far, but I'm wanting to do an assortment of text effect turorials.

Here's number 1.

try

write your text on layers box alpha to selcection

then select>grow 1or 2 pixels

then create a new transparent layer and put unders text not go to fill tool and choose a second colour

then fill and you should have a coloured back close to the text

alpha to selection again then

select>invert

now go script-fu> shadow>drop shadow set the top bars to 2 the blur to 5 using your back colour and de-select allow resizing

do this again with the colour of text as your colour
but the top 2 bars at 1 and blur 0

repeat the first shadow again and done nifty text
