BUMP BUMP BUMP - this is what I must do? :)
I tried this today and finally got into the room which I never thought I would. There were about 6-7 members online but only one was actually presnt at that time "SongWind", who chatted with me, and answered each and everything what I asked, I annoyed him a lot asking about IRC.
Let this be Gimptalk's Official IRC Channel, let us link it over the the top.
What I think now is make our very own IRC applciation that only connects to #gimptalk channel and does not let users connent any other, it is becuase many including me dont know anything about irc, so providing a small installer that just displays a dialog and let user chat easily will be good for majority. Connecting / joining etc is not real easy task as far I think. Linux users run console commands most of times and are used to that, but windows users are not and majority is windows users as far I think (just a guess).
What is your opinion? especially the founder of this channel "Griatch".
regards

@Ali Imran
Nice to see you in IRC! I'm back from vacations now and will be on there more regularly again now.
As for linking to the chat through a custom client, well ... considering you and Ali Roman probably has a dozen mails and PMs from me lying around from the last few years suggesting a webchat application for gimptalk, I have no objections. ;) There are plenty of ready-to-use IRC-like chat clients for phpbb3 around with all the features. The advantage of IRC is that it will remain up regardless of if GT goes down (since it's a separate server). The drawback is control. Ali Roman had a webchat in testing at one point before the hackers hit us, my comments and feedback on that should still be in his PMs.

The introduction post has been updated. It should now be VERY easy for people to join the chat.

unset($users['all']['posters']);
}
?>Just kidding.
A flash based irc client (specific to GT users) is on the way, will see what comes out.
