Welcome to my .Hack Tag Tutorial!!
We'll be making sigs like these:
Posted Image
Lets Begin!!!

-----

First of all open up a new document, and fill it with black. Any size, but I'll be using 100X400.
Posted Image

Now, paste in your render. Position it where it looks good. Then paste in your render again, on a new layer. Go to Filters>Blur>Gaussian Blur, and blur by 1. Move it around the canvas until you have a good part of it showing, like this:
Posted Image

Paste in your render again, but don't blur it. Move it around the canvas again till you have a good, detailed part of it showing.
Posted Image

Add in your render again, and blur it on the same settings as last time. Move it around as before.
Posted Image

Make a new layer, and get out a large soft brush. Brush once where your light source is, then smudge it towards the render using the same soft brush.
Set this layer on Overlay at 100% opacity. Duplicate this layer and set it to Normal at 100%.
Posted Image

Go to Edit>Copy Visible, and paste in a new layer. Make sure your FG and BG colours are set to this:
FG: Whatever fits your colour scheme
BG: Black
Then go to Filters>Colours>Gradient Map.
Set this to Soft Light at 100%.
Posted Image

Copy Visible, and Paste. Then go to Layer>Colours>Brightness-Contrast, and put both of the sliders up a considerable amount. The exact settings I used are below, but feel free to use your own settings.
Brightness: +29
Contrast: +24
Leave this layer on Normal at 100%.
Posted Image

Copy Visible, and Paste in a new layer again. Go to Filters>Enhance>Sharpen, and Sharpen by your prefered amount. Erase everything but the render.
Posted Image

Copy Visible, Paste. Do another Gradient Map, but this time have your FG colour set to Purple, and you BG colour to Orange. sEt this layer to Soft Light at 49.8%.
Posted Image

Make a new layer. Get out a small soft brush, and select two colours. Make a few dots around your tag, switching colours as you go.
Posted Image

Make another new layer, and select a smaller soft brush. Brush a line of dots in white going in the direction of your flow.
Posted Image

Copy Visible, and Paste. Go to Filters>Map>Displace, and displace it by itself, on the defualt settings. Erase most of it.
Posted Image

Go to File>Open As Layer, and select a tag you've made before. Make sure it's the same size as you tag (Right-Click on it in the Layers dialogue, and and select 'Layer to Image Size', if it's not.). Copy Visible, and Paste in a new layer. go to Filters>Map>Displace, and Displace this layer by your other tag. Leave everything else on defualt. Erase most of it.
Posted Image

Repeat the last step, but with a different tag.
Posted Image

Copy Visible yet again, and Paste in a new layer. Go to Layer>Mask>Add Layer Mask>Black Mask. Get out a lightning brush ( I used this set). Brush a few times on the layer mask in white. Click on the layer, and move it around. Erase parts of it that don't look good.

Make a new layer. Make a Elliptical Selection, and make a Radial Gradient inside it, using two colours from your tag. Move this around till you like it.
Repeat this another 2 times.
Posted Image

Edit>Copy Visible, and Paste in a new layer. Get out your Vine Brush, and Select the Smudge tool. Make sure the rate is set to 100, and Smudge wildly. Then, using your vine brush, erase most of it.
Posted Image

Now add a border, and text if you want. How I made my border is below, but feel free to use your own techniques.
Border: Make a new layer, and go to Select>All. Then go to Select>Shrink, and Shrink by 4. Fill this selection with black.

The End!!

Set this to Soft Light at 100%.

I'm guessing this step is a gradient map...?
