Hi,
I've just started to use GIMP as the copy I have of PS 7 is for WINS and at the moment I'm using a MAC and bascially don't have the $1,500(AUSTRALIAN) to get a full version of PS CS.
Anyway I like GIMP so far expect for the fact that every time I'm trying to view the fonts I have, GIMPS kepts shutting down...My X11 is still open but I have to restart GIMP.

Now I know that with PS if you have too many fonts ( I think the limit for PS is around the 1,000 mark!!! Please don't quote me on that )it doesn't open at all.It gives an error message & shuts down. Now I'm just wondering if GIMP has a similar issue that you might know of..Or is there a patch or plugin that might help with this problem..

Many thanks,
Maria

PS your instructions on the abr to gbr are great and came in handy....but I might wait for the batch program...I've got so many...hehehe :l:

First of all welcoem to GT,

secondly, read the tutorial on FULL interface, which includes the memory reservation issue. You define it yourself in gimp, that how much memory you need. I think I have more than the number of fonts you have installed, but still gimp does not crash on even 128 mb ram. That tutorial is general one and applies on all ports of The GIMP.

last, the batch conversion utility is comming soon, I lost my pre-configured gtk and devc++ due to windows crash.

Thanks for that, it's very similar to scratch memory on PS...I don't know why I didn't od that before hand ...sorry...

In regards to batch brushes - no worries I'll start to do what webbie sugguests on going into PS and saving them as greyscale png's then uploading into gimp it's just going to a slow process but I when I do a batch I'll upload them into you resource section.Same goes for any new ones I come up with.
