Hey was up?

Here's some easy steps to create some killer realistic fire!

Step 1: Open up a blank canvas (any size) I used the default size
Step 2: Fill it with a gradient (black to white) make sure at least 1/4 of your page is white...white for the brightest part of your fire.
Step 3: Create a New layer(transparant) and set it's mode to Grain Merge.
Step 4: Render plasma on the new layer, set the Turbulence to 6. Find the plasma pattern that you like by clicking 'New Seed.'
Step 5: Desaturate it...
Step 6: Open up 'Color Balance' and make sure the 'Preserve Luminosity' box is checked.
Step 7. Adjust the Shadows/Midtones/Highlights color levels till you get the desired look of your fire.
(NOTE: I used: Shadows: 88, -65, -56/Midtones: 71, 35, -49/Highlights: 91, 87, -5)
Step 8: Merge ALL layers down
Step 9: Select 'Selective Gaussian Blur' set Blur Radius at: 25 and Max Delta at: 50
Step 10: Your done!

plus, if you dont do step 8,9,10, you can just use that plain image for a decent grunge Background =D yay! (ive been looking for a way to do both of these! and you gave me both in one tutorial!)

Hey, was up guys? I'm glad you like the Realistic Fire! I have an update for it, It's ANIMATED Realistic Fire! :)
Here's how to do it...
ANIMATED REALISTIC FIRE!
Step 1: Create Realistic Fire (look at my first post)(make sure the Image is merged down, when complete!)
Step 2: Open a new Canvas(white, same size as the first Image)
Step 3: Create A second realistic fire...a little bit different from the first...
Step 4: Select All under Select, then go to Edit>Copy
Step 5: Paste as a New layer(Paste Into) in the first Realistic Fire you created in Step 1
Step 6: Open up the Layers window, and the new layer should be "floating" with the "floating" layer selected, click "New Layer"...
Step 7: Repeat steps 2-6, again make sure your third Realistic fire is different from your second, and your second from your first. (you can create more then three different Realistic fire's if you like)
Step 8: Duplicate each layer once, in the layers window.
Step 9: In your ORIGINAL Realistic Fire(created in step 1) go to Filters>Animation>Optimize(for GIF) A new canvas will open with the Realistic fire, this new one is your final product, do not close it!
Step 10: go to Filters>Animation>Playback (on your new R.F. that just opened in the step before)
Step 11: Save as a GIF. file..It will ask you to merge all visible layers(DON'T, instead click Save as Animation).

(NOTE: when making each R.F. make sure that the Levels for each one before coloring are different, for #1 I used 88, 1.31, and 181 on the Input levels, for #2, I used 52, 0.75, and 162, for #3 I used 52, 0.75, and 190. you want the white part of the fire to be bright, and you want the middle greys, and dark blacks to also be in there...)
YOUR'RE DONE! You can view this in either GIMP or any other program that will support GIF. videos.

Now the final thing can be found here> http://media.putfile...ic-Fire-effects The video file is an avi. and it's 18.2 MB, give it a few minutes to load, and then it should play smoothly, if it's choppy, wait about 5 minutes, and keep refreshing it.
