this is what i mean u sing colours to make a good background in stead of going coulerise...
here we go
NOTE :MUST HAVE THE LAYER WINDOW OPEN TO DO THIS GO TO DIALOGS THEN LAYERS!
get normal background like so
Image

then go new layer then go new layer>forground colour>ok
then make both paint pallets white then brush away!!! :h:
Image

then we need a render go gamerenders and find a good render then make sure its a png save file. then make new folder called My Renders or something like that
then paste the render onto your bg.DO NOT ANCHOR LAYER!!! just add a new layer
Image

once added new layer duplicate that layer and put the new layer behind the layer you have just created. motoin blur it by :liner>lengnth >137>angle>180. then just move it around so it fills up the hole picture. if u have a small render just scale layer by a ridiculesly large amount then fill it up.when done merge all the motoin blured layers like so
Image

then in your layer window u will have a little tap at the top . these are ur efeectz. click it and then select couler. dupilicate the layer. then mix it with any other efect end ruselt

Image hope this helps you in many diferent ways regards monotone

Nice tutorial, the renders weren't my favorite, but nice. I do like the Samus render, and that is an awesome sig.

It's the black box over the white box. Those two are the pallets.

Edit: Just so you know, I used your grunge backround because I didn't have any grunge brushes at the time.

I didn't choose the best render for colouring, but the result was pretty neat. I used two colour layers with the settings at Dodge and Colour.

I got stuck through here.

"once added new layer duplicate that layer and put the new layer behind the layer you have just created. motoin blur it by :liner>lengnth >137>angle>180. then just move it around so it fills up the hole picture. if u have a small render just scale layer by a ridiculesly large amount then fill it up.when done merge all the motoin blured layers like so"

Can someone explained in a more detailed way? I got GIMP about a week ago...
