Mathmap is an insanely useful script--I used it to make the following images:

http://silence.carchive.net/portfolio/lifestream2.jpg
http://silence.carchive.net/wallpapers/lifetree.jpg, in combination with polar coordinates.
http://silence.carchive.net/portfolio/eyes.jpg, which was a lot more work than it looks. Heavily used the mathmap plugin.

EDIT: This plugin can generate effects on the fly based on certain equations--many of them predefined and editable through scroll bars.

The problem is, it hasn't been compiled for GIMP 2.2 for Windows. Is there anyone out there with a little bit of experience willing to do this?

http://www.complang.tuwien.ac.at/~schani/mathmap/

Available above.

As you can tell, it's much more than fractals... Check out the site...

Basically, you increase the number of distort filters that GIMP has by infinity-fold.

There is a version that is available at this site here or i guess it would be easier with this instead

You could give it a try.

Yeah, I found that before. If you noticed, however, those have been compiled for the 1.2 series of GIMP (you can tell by the way the version numbers are written).

Ok is you are using Gimp 2.3 you could run the script through Lasm's script tool and see if that helps any. If you had not tried already.

I don't think you understand. This isn't script-fu. Not only that, but it has to be compiled.

I never tested any of them.

That indicates that these have been compile with too old version of gtk.

Sorry that was of no help for you.

This is probably not what you are looking for, but if all else fails and you really need this plug-in you could consider making your system dual-boot so you can run GIMP with the Mathmap plug-in on Linux.

A C# compiled version of GIMP????? That's probably never going to happen unless you download it from http://www.eecs.wsu.edu/paint.net/ ;)

With GIMP# we try to make it easy for .NET developers to implement new GIMP plug-ins. And of course we have implemented a few plug-ins of our own like the Slice Tool and the Picture Package. We hope this makes it easier for users to migrate from Photoshop to GIMP.

I'm always looking for ideas and other feedback regarding GIMP#. But I guess we have to become a bit more known first. Anyhow, that's another topic.

I mixed up http://gtk-sharp.sourceforge.net/ with your project.

Anyways thanks.

So, has anyone compiled the plugin for Windows? I would love to use it. Sounds AWESOME. (This has gone off-topic like twice already -_-) From what I've seen, I think I'd just be playing around until I actually realize what I'm doing...

I haven't made any of my most popular works since this filter stopped being compiled.

Andarel, if you wish to do advanced programming and mathematics, you should seriously consider putting Linux on your computer.

I've considered it-since Programming is all the way at the back of my mind right now (Several pressing matters for various reasons) I'll hold off until I have to. But for now I have neither the time nor the energy to do programming in addition to the things I have to do-if I get the chance I may though.
