Thanks a lot for the TUT. Here is my result:

Unfortunately, I don't know how to make the pic's show up in here. I tried the "Insert Pic Here" thing, but it doesn't show up, so just use the link.

Hi HeartBreakKid, welcome to the boards! :h:

A grunge brush is a graffitti, or cloudy, metallic, scratchy kind of brush. It's the most commonly used type of brush. You can get them at deviantart.com, in the gimp resources section. Also, check in the 'resources' section of this board. You'll find a couple over there.

Hope that helped!

Can someone give me a good lnk to some brushes? Mine suck. Everyone at the forums I usually go to are like "Did you use Filters > Clouds?!" Heres an example of the most recent one that I brushed and was mistaken for clouds:

EDIT: I just read the post above mine so nevermind.

Here's my finished product...

Here you go

Fence & Droz's PS Converted Brushes

You can also search the resource section of GT you will find quite a few nice brush sets here.

Interesting, once I get to the third layer it wont let me do any type of blur... the blur option doesn't even show up, but everything else does. :o:

edit - Ok nevermind I just closed the image and started over and now it'll let me blur.. that was weird though

It dioesn'y matter. I save it oce as a .xcf, and a .jpg, so you can have one to post on the net, and one to edit.

I first thought you may want to add that you should set the colour balance layers to overlay, but it doesn't seem to have been a problem for anyone, so nevermind.

Simply double click on the black square, which overlaps the white one, on the main GIMP window.

Amazing that a lot of the things I do are finally being documented. Also amazing that I can see where people have used my brushes. ;)

It's always good to experiment with other blending modes other than just overlay.

Image

contrasting colors show up better through dodge, divide, and screen. "Grunge" has no defined style other than dirty, so colorfulness is not exempt.

Thak all of you for your great comments.

Prowler yah i loved your brushes. They are great!!

As for the Layer question.... i always use transparent layers. If i need it filled i just use the bucket tool to do it!
