Here it is...


Step 1: Getting started
Take out a render, choose one with great colors, and movement. Paste it on a black bg like so:



Step 2: Placing the C4D's
This is where you can go kind of loose, get out some c4ds, and desaturate them, place them to give your image texture and flow, and also some lighting. Make sure they're all behind your render, erase where they dont look good. I used about 4 c4ds, feel free to use more. You should get this:



Step 3: Your render
Now for the desaturation of your render. First of all, duplicate your render. Desaturate the duplicated layer by going to Layers<colors<desaturate. And now, to get the color scheme going, u have to choose out only a few select spots on your render for color, a main one should be the eyes, use a small fuzzy brush and zoom in to erase the desaturated render where you dont want the B&W. Another main spot could be some streaks in the hair, Symbols on clothing, or almost anything, but one condition though, the selected areas of where you erase must be the same or close to the same, color.



Step 4: Vector Lines
Probrobly all of you are familiar with vector lines, and how to do them. But just in case, I'll explain. Get our your rectangle selection tool and get on your original render layer, choose a spot with the same colors that you used in Step 3, and select a long thin area of that color, with your rectangular selection tool, go to Edit<copy. Now make a new layer, and paste the vector line in it. Move it to a location where it looks good and continue this process until you have a few of these lines.



Step 5: Lighting and Blurring
Do an Edit>Copy visible, and paste it. Take out your dodge/burn tool and set the opacity to 11, start defining the light source and dark areas. Once your content do another Edit>Copy visible, and paste it in. Take out the blur tool and set its opacity to 15. Find where the most motion in your render is and blur that portion once with a large fuzzy brush. Now lower the opacity to 4-7 and blur some of the edges outside of the render lightly. Then you can feel free to sharpen the render if needed at an opacity of 6.



Step 6: Finishing touches
And as we wrap up this tut, we do it well, I made some gradient spheres and placed them in an empty space, (black and white gradient squares will do) then you can do another Edit>Copy visible, and paste, and do some last minute blurring, and finally you can add text, I did a size 11 arial and added an Alpha to Selection, then ran a Blue and Green gradient over it for contrast. And then finnally, I added some white japanese text. And got an end result of:

nice tut, but you shouldn't desaturate, use a b/w gradient map.

Whats the difference?

I think desaturation removes some of the quality.

b/w gradient map brings out the colors more
