There are a lot of abandoned GIMP plug-ins out there. If you look for example in the plug-in registry (http://registry.gimp.org) you will find many GIMP 1.x only plug-ins. In the poll I just added a few examples. If you choose "Other", please specify which one, so I can add that plug-in to the list.

If a plug-in gets many votes I might consider porting it to GIMP# so it lives on.

PS: I hope I can still add items to an existing poll, otherwise I will have to create a new poll if I get enough suggestions here.

Ok, I've asked a moderator to add this plug-in to the poll, so you can vote for it. Thanks for submitting!

may be a bit off topic since is not only abandoned but also lost

Anyway i lost a sort of very simple brush manager that was written in python (now the download link is dead as the author side...no idea if that script would work also on gimp 2.4)

i miss a brush manager that can maintain a order for category (corresponding to folders, as "animated" "grunge" Gothic" "Leaf") to search and display the available brush...and to select/unselect groups (folders) of brush and refresh...so only the needed brush can be at hand

then there are better chance to find on the fly the right brush

....that lost py plugin was no so powerful added something from my wishlist

Hm, seems that for the moment the Sky plug-in is by far a favorite.... if 3 votes means anything at all ;) However, I'll start downloading the source and see how complicated it is.

Guash plugin Although it needs more work it is still the only way to see thumbs of a complete folder within Gimp. While the thumbnails

are small with limited functionality it was one of the drawing points of Gimp 1.2.5. Maybe porting it to 2.4.2 will inspire some bright programer to

take it on as a project and make it what it was meant to be. :l: :l:

Can I vote more than one time?

Forgot to mention Guash supports Gimp native .xcf files as dose XnView (freeware), but Irfanview dose not for those of you who have tried various
solutions. (Maybe port GThumb to windows? or better yet make it part of Gimp?)

For those of you who don't know Guash here is some information

Done. I also moved "Other (please specify)" to be the first option (removing "None" as an option). It is important that anyone who modifies the poll only do so by adding options to the end of the list. Any re-arrangement of the existing items would affect the votes.

I realize that it is traditional to have "Other" after the list of items, but if it is to be offered as an option then it must be in an unchanging location in the poll.

@saulgoode: thanks. Probably the "GEM image" plug-in (an old graphic file format used in the GEM windowing environment) accidentally now got one vote.

Fixed. (See how I did that? :l:)

The "one vote" was previously cast for "Other" and I was not sure whether it should be assigned to GEM or GUASH since both had been proposed in the thread. I had considered removing the "Other" option because once someone votes for Other, it is impossible to change their vote.

i just remember that a lot of people asked for "phymodmedia"

I never used so i have no idea of what was doing of so interesting, but even browsing GT you may seen that for a while was very requested.

So i thought was a good idea add it to your pool

I downloaded phymodmedia to see what the code looked like and it seems to be a combination of three plug-ins: the already mentioned Sky plug-in, a texture renderer and "color pencils".

I started porting the Sky plug-in to GIMP#. First code is already in CVS: the GUI has been built and most of the functionality is implemented. I expect to have a first working version somewhere this week. It will be included with the next GIMP# release, which is 0.14, before the end of this year.

The Sky plug-in is alive again in a C# reincarnation :) A first screen shot can be seen at my blog (see link below). I want to clean up the GUI a bit and try to make it somewhat faster. Right now it takes about 4 seconds for a 420 x 300 image on my (admittedly old) Sempron 2400. I really have no idea how fast (or slow) the original C implementation was.

Of course you can still vote in this poll for other plug-ins.

Nice to have this sky renderer back again. I remember that it was made by David A.Barthold for the Terraform project.

One plug-in I tested in the past that I like is L-system here : http://members.ozemail.com.au/~hodsond/
You can compose plant and trees with fractals, it's an alternative to IFS compose. I still have a library of 58 plants that you can distribute with this this plug-in if you make it available for gimp#. Just tell me.

Maybe one of the operators can add this plug-in to the poll. I will have a look at the code to see how easy it would be to port. Thanks for the offer to include the library! I will certainly make use of it when the plug-in becomes part of GIMP#.

Sure i do,
Even more happy to do after i had a glimpse the Wiki page on L-system http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/L-System offers really fascinating examples.

Just a question
that plugin that may render something alike some this example from the Wikipedia?

Basically it's just a rendering motor for fractals. You have to put your one formula to produce an image, for example 0:F:FF+(+F-F-F)-(-F+F+F) produce a bush :w: You probably can find lot of formulas on the web. The library I made for this plug-in are this kind of formula and presettings but only for plants.

One thing I can guarantee (in contrast with all my broken promises such as providing documentation :w:) is that all the plug-ins I write/port will run on Linux, simply because that's the platform I use for development.

There is also some hope for Windows users: last few weeks someone was nice enough to put some effort in getting GIMP# 0.13 to work on win32. Yesterday he even sent me an installer which I will put up on the GIMP# download page this week.
