ok.. you will get a effect like in the sig i made a while ago (for those who dont know, well ull see how it looks like)
first make a new image, i made it 400/120 (all my sigs are that big)
with a white background.
now take the gradient tool and put the mode on difference, pick the ''three bars sin'' gradient and splat about 5 on your pic:
try to make the crosspoint in a corner, later on you see why
open a ready background, which is completely black on some spots, i used this pic.
(get it dark with the contrast/light thing and colorize)
ok, now copy your first image (stripe one) and paste it on a new layer in your background pic and set lightning mode to
multiply
it looks something like this:
now, take the lasso tool and with it, select the area you want the stripes to end. the edge off this area must be in the black area off the background so you cant see the sharp edge.
you will get about something like this:
now.. just copy the stripe layer and do the vertical flip thing so its on both sides:
you are finished! just add text and all that
