Hello again guys,

There me be hundreds of possibilities to create water surface in Gimp. I found a simple way that creates the water surface mostly found in 3d games. Further you can create ripples animation using script-fu called water waves.

Follow steps below.

[*] Start with new image of desired dimensions
[*] Go through menus Script-Fu > Render > Lava, a new window will appear, select gradient named Horizon 2 (if you do not have this gradient in list, then download attached file, I do not remember from where I downloaded this file, credit goes to respective author. And if you do not know how to bring this gradient in list, see FAQs). Now click button OK, and you have something as shown here:

Thats all, I hope you found it interesting.

Now lick button

Great tutorial, Ali. I'm stuck on the step above, however. I keep licking the button, but the only water surface that's developing is on my keyboard! LOL :w: Just kidding. Very nice and easy, with great results....my favorite kind!

See ya when I get back!

If I may, I stumbled upon a better way to get a killer water effect thats equally simple!!! :l:

Image

[*]First do a simple blue gradient with two similar color blues.
[*]Next Make a new layer and render solid noise. click "Turbulance"
[*]Set the layer to subtract and the opacity to 75.

VOILA!!! Enjoy!
