Lots of people asked for a tut for this sig:
I don't remember all the exact steps. But we should end up with something close to it
First download these brushes: http://www.deviantart.com/deviation/25509313/
(I did not make them.)
Okie day lets go!
Get out a new doc (Duh...). I use 340x120 but you can use any size you want.
I will be using this render.
Pick a color for your BG that goes with your render. Now put your render on a new layer.
Alright, now make another new layer. Put it inbetween the render layer and BG layer. Go back to the layer with your render on it and press Ctrl+A. That should select everything. Now press Ctrl+C.
Go back to the layer you just created and press Ctrl+V. Then anchor it to that layer. Cover up the entire layer with the render.
It should look something like this:
Now go to Filters>Blur>Gaussian Blur. Use these settings:
Now go to Filters>Noise>Pick. Use these settings (I just used a random seed. You can just press new seed for a random one):
Your sig should look like this:
Now go to Filters>Blur>Motion Blur. To make your sig have flow, pick the angle that gives the best flow. I used these settings:
It should look something like this:
(Optional): Set the layer to Multiply. Sometimes this makes it looks better, and sometimes makes it look bad. You can decide if you want too or not.
Now whip out those brushes you just download. But first, create a new layer. Now brush around with white. Dont brush too much. And don't hold down. Just click around. I probably used around 5 clicks. This is what I got:
Now set the layer mode to Overlay.
Now do that a couple of times with different colors. If you have any other brushes you want to use, use them. Just don't brush too much on each layer.
This is what I have so far:
Alrighty, halfway done!
Now I used this C4D:
http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b309/couchpotatoe93/glassware_explosion.png
(Once again, I didn't make this.)
Make a new layer and put it ontop of all the layers except the render layer. Now paste the C4D on there and get it in the spot you want.
This is what It should look like:
Now go to Layer>Colors>Desaturate. Then set the layer's mode to Overlay and 50% opacity.
Make a new layer and set ontop of the C4D layer. Pull out your default sparks brush. and brush around something like this:
Now go to Filters>Map>Displace. Then go to Layer>Colors>Desaturate. Now set that layers mode to Dodge.
It should now look something like this
(Optional): I made a new layer and set to soft ligt. Then I brushed around a little bit with the default star brushes.
Alrighty, you don't have to do this.. But it is a good way to blen renders. This is a little tricky so try not to get lost
Okay, duplicate the render layer. On the new duplicate, smudge it like so:
Set the layer you just smudged to Overlay.
Now duplicate that layer. This depends on your render and BG. You can decide what you like more: duplicated or just one layer.
It should look something like this:
Now duplicate the layer one more time and put it under all of the other render layers. Set it to Screen.
Yay! Almost done!
Now for lighting and color...
Make a new layer on top of all the others. Select some softish/grungey brush. Now brush in a corner like so:
Go to Filters>Blur>Motion Blur. Now you are going to want to make the lighting flow with the sig. These are the setting I used:
Now you can mess around with the opacity and blend modes of the lighting layer. I used Grain Merge with 70% opacity.
Last Step! Almost there
Make your FG and BG colors blue and orange. Like so:
Make a new layer ontop of all the others. Now go to Edit>Copy Visible and press Ctrl+V. Anchor it down to the new layer.
Now go to Filters>Colors>Map>Gradient Map. Set the layer to Overlay.
Yay! You have your siggy ^.^
For text and border..
Text:
I used a cursive font. I forget where I got it. I typed in what I wanted and messed with the opacity:
Border:
Make a new layer and put it ontop of all the others. Make your FG color black and press Ctrl+A. Then go to Edit>Stroke Selection.
Use these settings:
Now we are officially done
Feedback is welcomed! And I would love to see some results!

Did you desaturate your 'bubble' layer? And also, instead of using orange and blue for the coloring, use a purple and blue. The render is pretty big too.

Cool. I think that white box where the text is takes away from the sig. And ya might wanna change the font to something more simple (like Arial).
Pretty cool though

Thanks. I noticed the white box at the end and I was like " Screw it!" So i just left it because i was too lazy to fix it. The text I like, it gives it a sense of being there, but not being there I dont know... Anyway thanks bro and lookin forward to more of ur tuts! Im such a GIMP noob and this really helped me.

Good tutorial, though it looked MUCH better without the gradient map IMO.

You can choose if you want to do that. I just like doing that because it balances out the colors.
