[*]Windows Users:

For example you have installed gimp in folder
C:\\Program Files\\GIMP-2.0

then go to this folder
C:\\Program Files\\GIMP-2.0\\lib\\gimp\\2.0\\plug-ins

and put the new plugin .exe file or .8bf in thi folder and all related files in same folder.


[*]Other Users:
Suppose you are using linux and installed gimp in
/root/ali/GIMP-2.0

then go to folder
/root/ali/GIMP-2.0/lib/gimp/2.0/plug-ins

and paste new plugin files in this folder
NOTE: if you obtained .c file of the plugin, please run gimptool to compoile it first.

[*] If GIMP is already running simply close and restart it. New plugin will be found in Filters menu (which is found in the image window).

I receive error something like 'invalid file format' when I try to load .EPS files in gimp. Do you know how can this be fixed or is gimp's new version supporting eps files ? actually I dont have money to buy big softwares and I use gimp for my school slide presentations making.

Any help is apprecited.

do you have ghostscript installed ? without that you wont be able to load eps files in gimp, I encountered this problem a long ago but solved after installing ghostscript and now I can load pdf files too :w:

I hope someone can answer my questions. I downloaded ghostscript from the link above and installed it, but I am unable to open pdf or esm files. Here is the error message that I get:

No ideas on what could be the problem, or am I not supposed to be able to open PDF files in Gimp?

I am in need of an answer to this very same question. It's like it is not finding my GhostScript, and I can't find anywhere in GIMP to "tell it" in where my GhostScript is located. Can anyone please help with this problem. Thanks in advance!!

I have it working and opened my file just fine. What you will need to do is put the path of your ghostscript in the windows environment.

Let me know if that works for you.

OK I downloaded ghostscript it says install to directory do I leave as is or put it else where ?

NM I got it :l:

You can just copy the gscwin32.exe (i think that's the right name) file from the ghostscript installation to your programfiles/gimp/bin directory and you should be ready to go. No need to edit variables or anything as gimp will automaticlaly look in the bin path I believe.

I put gswin32.exe and gswin32c.exe both in bin folder of gimp and everythign working perfectly, now gimp loading pdf, eps, ps etc.

Hi, i am relatively new to gimp, and editing in general, but i had head you could use pspi and the nvidia dds plugin for photoshop, to open dds files. I out the dds.8bi in the plugin folder, and set pspi's directory search to both the location it installed to and gimp's plugin folder. But i still cannot open dds files, and is not listed as a viable file type. Is there a different place to put filetype plugins or is it not entirely possible?

:s: I get the same problem ,and the same error message about PLUGIN.dll not found,...A lot of error messages ,since i try to use a lot of Photoshop plugin ...I had to remove most of them but i will be happy to find a better solution...What is PLUGIN. dll , where i can find it, and where i'm supposed to install it?

I had same prob. I had placed "PSPI.EXE" into the plugin folder (along with the rest of the plugin's that came with Gimp) I noticed that all the rest of the plugins were ".exe"! But I followed the instuctions from the previous posts and placed just 4 old PS plugins I had that had an ext of ".8bf" into the same plugin folder under gimp. When I restarted Gimp - I got pretty much the same error messages that you got. Next, I decided to create a new dir, I MOVED these 4 plugins into the new dir and then restarted Gimp and told Gimp where this new dir was and then Viola it worked! I opened an image then went to Filter -> and found the 4 new plugins. Hope this helps :h:

did you make a path to your folder if not when you open gimp click the Xtns button and then click photoshop plugin settings a new box will pop up click the browse button and add your folder then restart gimp
