PART 1 http://www.gimptalk.com/forum/topic/Gap-Layermasking-Video-3611-1.html

In this fairly simple tutorial, we add a background to the video we masked in the first Layermasking Video tutorial. This tutorial will be done rather quickly. :l:

Below is a picture of our masked video as we last left it in the previous tutorial :w:

Image

That image is 640x480, so in the main gimp window, I click:

File/New and created a simple background the same size as the masked video (640x480) pictured below:

The above background will be very easily added to the masked video.

Go back to the masked video window that you would have created with my previous tutorial and click:

Video/Move Path

Image

You get the above window opened. First make sure you check Instant Apply at the bottom of that window so you can see what you are working with. Now the important part is you will notice that Layerstack has been changed to 1. This is important. The top most layer is labeled 0 (zero) in GAP and each layer beneath that is labeled 1 then 2 then 3, so on and so forth. So in order to place our Source/Image Layer indicated at the top of the window behind the video, we must make it layer number 1, which will make the video layer number 0. As an exercise, go ahead and change the Layerstack number to zero and watch the background now cover over the video layer. Now switch it back to a 1.

You can click Anim Preview and when that window pops up, select Exact Object on Frames. If you are satisfied with the result, close that out and close out the small new window created and click Don't Save. Now that puts you back with your Move Path window. Just click OK and let GAP do it's magic and soon you will now have the masked video with a nice new background. Mine looks like this:

Now if you click Video/Playback in that window, you can now playback your video and it will play with it's brand new background.

That's it! Told you this one was quick. :l:

Thanks for the tutorial, it is very well-written. My only complaint is that you didn't post it sooner :). It took me about a month to learn this and you have done well to describe it in a couple of posts. I look forward to more GAP tutorials from you if you would care to share.
