Hello class and today we will be learning how to make avatars.

First open up Gimp and click File>New and set size to 64 by 64 pixels.

Image

Now create a good background as i did.

Image

Find a nice looking sprite or render and also scale the image size so it is big enough for either whole or part of your sprites body to fit in the avatar. I chose this sprite below and if you want to use it you can.

Image

Now go to File>Open As Layer, then find where you saved your render or sprite at there you were going to use for this avatar and add it. Then right click the sprite or render you choose when its in the avatar, go to tools then transform tool and go to Move, this is how it should look now.

Image

Now this is it for the tut and this is how it should look now.

My avatar tut: Get a friend who's an artist. have her draw you an avatar. Done! :w: Hey...it works for me :)

Nice tut, I'll probably use it sometime.

I still think it's 100 x 100 on an av.

I used to have FF and IE...but I stopped using IE and it's in my *Rarely Used* folder on my desktop now.

It's not really much of a tutorial, is it?

Create a background.
Insert a render.
Done.

You should tell us how to create the background. Tell us about colouring, brushing or c4d renders.

Do you have to download "what" first?

Also, please limit your question/statement to a single post. Your second post really adds nothing to the topic.

Sorry, but on this tut I have to agree with Drago.

I'm sure for some it would be useful, but as you have not told us about how to make the bg etc, it is for more expirenced users.. who already who how to Put a image onto a canvas and bg.

I'm sure you had good intentions, and yes It may help some.
