This is my first Tutorial, and I just got GIMP last week, 7 days ago to be exact. I think this a good tutorial, looks good when you finish.

Name: Woven 3D Box
Dificulty Level: 1
Neccessary Tools: Basic Tools Gimp comes with

::Steps::
1. Make a new image, size doesn't even matter. I will use 500 X 150.
2. Choose your disired background. This is what the ribbon on the woven box will look like. I am going to use the Mexican Flag here.



3. Use Weave Effect on the Box. Here, you just weeve the box, nothing hard. Script Fu-Alchemy-Weave. This is how it should now look.



4. Boxify it. Use the dissort, Polar Coords. Filter-Distorts-Polar Coords. IT should now look like this, or similar, settings do not matter.



See, a woven Box. You can now add text, do anything with it. I just added basic glow text, Making it go from this:



to this:



Easiest tutorial in history, perfect for newbies.
