Well, I finally got annoyed enough with a lot of my fonts looking like wingdings / webdings that I tried to find out what the problem is, I still havent found the source of the bug but I did find a temporary trick to fix it while browsing the [GUG] forum,

On windows you search for the .fonts.cache-1 file, mine was labeled .fonts under "C:\Documents and Settings\Owner" and once you find it delete it, gimp rebuilds the cache file when you start gimp and your fonts should be fine... during that session anyway, you would / will need to do this for each time you need fonts to be correct or the fonts return and get messed up.

Please, anyone with more information on this and a complete fix please share, I'm not sure if this is because I have gimp themed or its some other issue but I and others with the same problem would love to get it fixed! Maybe some one here with the same problem could help me to see if there are similarities in our set up and pin point it.

You can't delete things from control panel. It's not a actual browsing thing, you can only change settings. Don't delete your fonts now you won't even be able to use the one you've used in all your sigs. :w:

If you delete your fonts, you won't be able to read what anything says on your computer.
Start will just be alot of weird slant marks and stuff, and al lyou program names will be random slants .. it's weird looking.

well is possible do even more harmful thing in windows...but luckily in this case it will not be easy figure out how...but ...Yes... all win fonts could be deleted, and then the computer will not be able to send or read any text ,not even to display the name or the menu of your programs... (It was done in a flash to my boss computer after he fired a vendicative guy )

However the install Win CD could be used to repair similar problems without reformatting everything

Well, I filed a bug report here http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=362049 and this is my first bug report, I hope I did this correctly, maybe some one could add a confirmation to this bug? I will also post this report on our neighbors [GUG].

Well fingers crossed for now and I will continue with the above temp fix till things get fixed.
